The World to Come by Dara Horn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A beautiful, engaging, dark, and often funny tale that ranges from 1920s Russia to present-day New Jersey. Dara Horn tells the fascinating story of the Ziskind family and the (fictional) theft of a Chagall painting. The story has a very surreal, fairytale quality to it, but at the same time Horn carefully develops each character so that you truly believe the outlandish actions they take.
A wonderful book--I highly recommend it!
